This steel fabricated Inspection Pit is manufactured for Class 4 MOT Testing and meets the requirements set out by the DVSA. The overall dimension includes walk-in steps one end and emergency escape ladder the other. (If you want to do Class 7 Testing also you will need our larger Class 7 Inspection Pit) Remember this fact when choosing the Class of MOT Testing you want to carry out. Our one-piece MOT Testing pits are manufactured from 5mm thick steel with pre-formed walls recessed for strength and the safe installation of the lighting for protection during use.

The walls are strengthened with a steel gusset every one meter as is the floor which is finished in checker plate. Seam welding and attention to detail all contribute to a very well produced competitively priced one-piece inspection pit.

The overall finish is completed with bright white gloss finish internal walls, walk-in removable steel staircase steps and a emergency escape ladder at the opposite end.

If you are fitting wheelplay detectors or slip/radius plates we can fabricate steel recesses for this at additional cost.

This example MOT Bay installation was in a newly built industrial unit with the customer wanting to be pro-active with all elements of the build himself.

We supplied the inspection pit direct to the premises and were available to answer and assist with any questions or queries the customer may have had during the build period.

Due to the time period of the build and the fact the roof was off for a while, the customer ordered the inspection pit in "primer only" and completed the internal painting after the buildings floor was laid and the building had been completed.

NOTE.

Many of the Inspection Pits we supply are going into an existing

building so the installation is slightly different.

The floor is likely to require cutting for access.

In this type of scenario, we are more than happy to supply metal bearers, so during the installation,

the inspection pit can be suspended from an existing floor, see sample photos below.

The workshop floor has been cut by the contractor using a diamond cut saw machine.

The spoil from the hole in the floor has been removed and moved away from the area.

This inspection pit was supplied to the customer with the option of the steel bearers shown.

Once the inspection pit has been lowered into position and its location finalised, the services duct can be connected and pouring of the concrete can commence.

Note: Its always advisable to carry out the concrete pour in three to four separate pours.

Failure to do this could result in the inspection pit breaking out of the ground and floating on the wet concrete like a boat!!!!
